Week 4's Blog

Slideshare Presentation, this is a link to the presentation I chose from the Slideshare web site. This presentation focused on creating a social media marketing plan and I feel this presentation is wonderful.  The detail they provided and the step by step guide to creating a plan are vary valuable. They've broken everything down and have explained everything in a way that makes it all a little less overwhelming.

I feel this presentation is right in line with the presentations posted by Professor Zellers in that it helps to show the importance of planning in social media marketing.

As far as the semester project planning, my first suggestion would be to maybe add, before the rough draft, a research assignment that would be due. This would not be a rough draft but a document containing a lot of the research gathered to start the planning process. It sounds like this may be a necessary step, a MAJOR one, before the planning can even begin and having it due as an assignment would help students set aside more time for that phase so they don't skimp on the research.

A second suggestion would be, wouldn't the transparency issues be handled through the college policies? I realize you are only asking us to propose transparency policies, and if we were working on a social media marketing plan for a different company I would say this step would not be a waste of time, but with a company as big as LCCC I would think these policies have been in place already.

I feel this assignment is a good one. I think it's always good to ask for feedback and what better way to get it than by asking the people who are actually taking the class. So far I'm feeling a little disorganized in this class. There doesn't seem to be much structure. I feel like some students are doing things that have not even been asked, but then other students follow along and then it leaves me feeling like maybe I missed something so I, too, followed along. The one instance I'm thinking of are the Introductions. I'm not sure I saw that as an "assignment" anywhere and I looked everything over again to see if maybe I missed it and still didn't seem to find where it said we should post them. But I realize what is the harm? My only concern is I really like to have a more structured view of my week ahead and know what I need to do for that week when I see others doing things that seem to not be "listed" anywhere I wonder if I really DO need to do it or not. I work a full time job and have a family so it's not that I don't want to do what's expected of me, I just really don't have time to spend on things that ARE NOT expected of me. When the whole class goes along and I don't feel like I have a structured list of weekly things I need to accomplish, it feels chaotic to me. I'm trying just to follow along with your weekly blogs that list what I should do but it doesn't seem quite clear to some people what you mean when you say to put a link to your blog in the drop box. I realize discussions are part of this class as well, but more and more stuff is posted to the discussion board and I just have a feeling of chaos right now.
